This disease causes severe chest pain due to ischemia of the heart muscle. This ischemia occurs due to narrowing or obstruction of the coronary arteries by atherosclerosis or blood clots, or by spasm of the coronary arteries. The main cause of the angina is coronary heart disease, and there are two main types: stable and unstable angina.
